In this riveting and well resourced book, Dr Sarah Lantz educates and creates
awareness regarding the hidden chemicals and dangers that will affect your
child’s health. She explores all avenues, from the minute you conceive until your
child leaves the nest. This is a must read for all parents, prospective parents,
and anyone concerned about their own health and the wellbeing, or that of the
health of the planet. If we can make a stand and choose not to buy technology
foods, synthetic cosmetics, toxic cleaning agents, medications and other chemically
ridden goods, then as a consumer we become powerful, not only taking
control of the health of our children but also the health of the planet. Dr Lantz
has used a plethora of resources in order to create a convincing argument which
cannot be disputed as to why we should bring our children up without chemicals.
Health is a step by step process, beginning with an education and an intuition
about what is the truth about the foods and health directives we should have for
our children. ‘Chemical Free Kids’ not only makes you aware and opens your eyes
to the problem, but it gives you solutions and ones that work!
Cyndi O’Meara (Health Advocate, Nutritionist, Best Selling Author (Changing Habits Changing Lives Series), and Mother to three healthy chemical free kids)
Children have the right to a toxic-free childhood, and depend upon their caregivers
to protect them from toxic food and toxic environments. Their ability to
thrive, to grow up to become healthy, emotionally secure and happy adults stems
from such protection. Chemical Free Kids arms parents and caregivers with the
evidence-based information they need to navigate through an increasingly toxic
world. With simplicity and warm clarity, Chemical Free Kids turns you into the
expert. This book is a must-have manual for contemporary times.
(Kali Wendorf, editor, Kindred magazine)
The book is written in a refreshing and engaging style, full of important facts
about how to minimise the impact of chemicals on our children and ourselves. In
addition to the science, the stories that are presented, gathered through research
with over 60 Australian families, convey personal accounts of how chemicals
change our bodies. Chemical Free Kids is loaded with helpful advice, but the
tone is never preachy. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who wants
to be an informed parent, citizen and consumer. Ultimately, this is a book about
inconvenient truths that we should not only be made aware of, but which must
be used to demand a more toxic free environment.
(Dr Greg Marston, Lecturer and researcher, University of Queensland, Social Policy Unit)
Chemicals in our food, our homes and our environment are increasingly undermining the very fabric of our society’s health and environment. Most disturbingly, chemicals have the potential to destroy the health of our children. Children are the future, so it is vitally important they are not only raised as healthy
as possible, but that they know the difference between what is good and what is
bad for them. Children raised on organic food and natural, sustainable products
will be armed with better knowledge, better health and better choices. They will
care about what goes into their bodies, their quality of life and their overall environment. An authoritative book, Chemical Free Kids will certainly influence
the decisions we make as parents and, ultimately, the outcome for our children.
A must-read for all parents, young and old.
(Wendy Duyker, Author of Detox Your Home Body & Mind)
Dr Lantz's book is a clarion call for parents to use their common sense and protect
their children from the dangerous chemicals that are ubiquitous in our world
today. Despite already making obscene profits, corporations do not think twice
about putting out products that are hazardous to our children. Nowhere is this
more evident than the pharmaceutical industry, which rakes in billions of dollars
of profits annually selling dangerous drugs based on bogus diagnoses. Dr.
Lantz's chapter on ‘Parenting with Pills’ exposes the child psychiatry/drug industry
that tries to tell us our children are ‘sick’ when they don't conform, when
they annoy adults or when they are simply different. As this book proves, the
voice of one knowledgeable and loving parent is amazingly compelling. Parents
have a real opportunity to choose to keep their children free of toxic chemicals,
whether they are in a bottle of shampoo or a bottle of psychotropic drugs. The
uniqueness and the joy of each child is something to be celebrated, and we can
choose to raise our children free from the noxious substances of an increasingly
noxious world.
(Dr Bob Jacobs, J.D. and Psychologist)
In a world where we are increasingly surrounded by toxic chemicals, Chemical
Free Kids is a valuable guide and a stirring call to action, aimed at protecting
our most precious resource - our children. Dr Lantz's book is a critical education
for everyone who cares about the state of our world.
(Dr Rjurik Davidson, Writer and Associate Editor of Overland magazine)
I found your presentation, based on your book, so inspiring. Our journey as a
family has been one of food intolerances, behavioural and learning issues, as
well as physical aliments. All of this caused me to do quite a bit of research
into our chemical environment. We are migrants and it has also been staggering
to learn that Australia is amongst the most chemically toxic places in the
world - many chemicals allowed in foods and personal care products here are
banned in Europe, for example. Your talk reminded me why I am in the organics
industry - my passion is rekindled. Thankyou so much, Dr Lantz, for your
talk and also for the work you are doing in this area - our children need this.
(Karen Lowe, mother of two, teacher and ONE Group representative)
I heard Dr Lantz at a conference and immediately wanted to buy her book. I was
fortunate that she asked me to review it and there is no question that it honours
its title. Carcinogens, Mutagens and Toxins ... we're bathed in them daily at our
own expense and risk. Thanks for a great book and opening my eyes.
(Jenny Lewis, mother of Tagan 7)
After I read the manuscript I gave it to my teenage daughter to read. She
won’t listen to her mother anymore, I’m very uncool, but she listened to
this book. All parents want healthy children and this book taught me a
lot about how to think about health and engage with my children about it.
(Sybil Johnson, Mother of Abbie 17 and Amy 5)
I like the book’s voice - from one mother to another - or one parent to another.
This book will be such a great resource for parents. I’ve made some practical
changes already. I will recommend that all the parents I work with read this
book.
(Jasmine Yogan, Brisbane Family Day Care worker and mother of 2 teenage boys)
I could have used this book before I started having children. I knew instinctively
many of the messages contained within its pages, but it’s always good to have it
confirmed years later. It is so important that parents have this information. I
can’t wait for it to get published.
